JAMMU, June 11: Highlighting their demands and issues, members of J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) held a strong protest demonstration, here today.
The protesting teachers assembled near Press Club Jammu, under the leadership of Hari Singh, Provincial president of USTA and staged protest demonstration amidst raising of slogans and carrying placards.
They were demanding release of 7th Pay Commission arrears and six months pending salary of Masters posted as Head Teachers under SSA, conversion of all RReTs into’ Teacher Grade-ll’ and release of their pending arrears and salary under 7th Pay Commission, regularization of all incharge Lecturers, Headmasters, ZEO and Principals etc working in their own pay and grade for the last many years, repatriation of all Masters, Lecturers and Headmasters on priority, who have completed their tenure within and out of Districts.

USTA expressed its anguish and serious concern over the inordinate delay in disbursement of salary to Masters and teachers. They alleged that whether it was elected Government or the Governor’s rule, burning issues of the teaching community have remained undressed
“It is highly deplorable that despite repeated demands, protests, appeals , dharnas and demonstrations, the State Government has failed to address the issues like immediate regularization of all Lecturers, Headmasters, ZEO & Principals etc,” they said.
The protesters strongly condemned the authorities at the helm of affairs for not making transfers of Masters , Lecturers and Headmasters who are working in hard zones for last so many years.
Urging the Governor’s administration to concede the demands at an earliest, the USTA threatened to launch an agitation if no action is taken on their issues.
Those, who addressed the gathering, included Rajeev Kumar, Kanta Devi, Pardeep Singh, Roop Chand, Raj Kumar, Bashir Hussain, Ashok Kumar, Balwant Singh, Sunil Thappa and others.
