University of Jammu hosts first ever National Integration Camp in UT of J&K

JAMMU, Feb 22: In an effort to spread the message of Unity in Diversity among the youth of the country, the University of Jammu took a mega-initiative of hosting first ever National Integration Camp in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The camp is being organized by National Service Scheme (NSS), University of Jammu in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and NSS Regional Directorate, New Delhi.
About 200 students from across the country representing different states and UTs namely Assam, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Orissa, Chandigarh and J&K are participating in the camp.
Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, was the chief guest of the inaugural function. He in his address, stressed upon the importance of such National Integration Camps in promoting the spirit of brotherhood and harmony, thus contributing towards nation building.
Earlier, Prof Manoj Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu in his presidential address said such integration camps can go a long way in promoting the values of peace and harmony among the youth, which constitute the future of the nation. He hoped that the participating teams from across the Country will act as peace ambassadors and will spread the message of peace and harmony throughout the country. Besides, it would be a great opportunity for the students of J&K to get acquainted with the cultural ethos and values of the people residing in different states of India and appreciate that despite the differences in religion, caste, creed, sex, languages, customs, we are all bound by the common thread of Nationalism and one Nation.
Dr Kamal Kumar Kar, Regional Director, NSS, New Delhi was the guest of honour who in his address presented an overview of National Integration Camp.
Earlier, Dr Satinder Kumar, Programme Coordinator NSS, presented the welcome address and in the end, Prof Neeru Sharma presented formal vote of thanks.
Among others, Deans, Directors, Head of Departments, Dr Sanjana Kaul, Prof Vishwa Raksha, Officers, NSS of various States, staff, scholars and students were also present on the occasion.
Mesmerizing cultural bonanza presented by the participating teams enthralled the audience with their folk dances.
The programme was coordinated by Programme Officers, NSS, University of Jammu namely Dr Savita Nayyar, Dr Seema Rohmetra, Dr Hema Gandotra, Dr Meghna Dhar along with College Programme Officer namely Dr Manmohan Singh and Dr Rakesh Sharma.
The event was anchored by IG NSS National awardee Jasvir Singh and NSS volunteer Srishti Koul.
