‘Univs with innovative spirit can take J-K to new heights’

KATRA :  Universities and centres of learning which have an “innovative and vigorous spirit” can take Jammu and Kashmir to “new heights”, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said today while urging students to use their education to help in the “holistic development and growth of society”.

“Universities… Can provide the essential framework for developing and crystallising knowledge societies. This can take the State to new heights and align the needs of society with that of the knowledge economy,” Omar said.

He was speaking at the fourth convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University.

The Chief Minister said that whatever students gained from educational institutions, they need to use it in the right perspective.

“You (students) have been given education and skills. You have to prove your calibre and mettle,” Omar said, adding that the graduates and post-graduates from the State should strive hard in the wider world so that people from across the globe are inspired to come to J-K in their pursuit of knowledge.
