JAMMU, Nov 22: Senior BJP leader and JMC Councillor, Sanjay Kumar Baru along with Junior Engineer of Jal Shakti Department, Vivek Kohli and Supervisor Dalip Kumar visited different localities of Ward-41 to prepare estimate for replacing dilapidated water pipes with new one to ensure proper water supply, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the Councillor said that due to dilapidated conditions of old pipes at different locations in Surya Vihar, Colonel Colony, Wazir Lane, the people of these localities are facing water crisis.
“Taking cognizance of the problems and to resolve it, a roadmap with the proper mechanism with the help of officials of the department concerned was discussed and asked them to prepare estimates for replacing old pipes with new ones, so that water supply can be ensured in stipulated time frame,” Baru said.
He also appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Union Government for the allocation of nearly Rs 5200 crores for Jal Shakti Abhiyan in the UT in the recent budget for 2021-22.
Earlier there was lack of coordination between various departments PHE, PHE mechanical, PDD maintenance and PDD transmission electrical wing, but now after the 74th amendment there is significant improvement in coordination between these departments under the supervision of the JMC, he asserted.
Chand, Daleep, Gian Chand Sharma, Sanjay Sharma and local residents were present during the visit.
