Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to the peak of militancy when shops and business establishments used to be closed before dusk in Jammu and Kashmir and without naming Sushil Kumar Shinde said the Home Minister of the previous Congress-led Government was “frightened” to visit Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of Srinagar.

“We and you, together, will build a secure and prosperous J-K and this is Modi’s guarantee,” he said.
Shinde told a news channel recently that someone suggested to him to visit Lal Chowk in Srinagar when he was the Home Minister of India in the UPA Government but he was frightened.
