Upanayan Sanskar organised in Chudamani Sanskrit Sansthan

BASOHLI, Apr 15: Ceremony of wearing scared thread (Upanayan Sanskar ) and associated activities were held here today by the Chudamani Sanskrit Sansthan Basohli.
Carrying forward the concept of reviving the Indian cultural tradition of the unique scholar of Jammu and Kashmir, Pt Dr Uttam Chand Pathak Shastri, Upanayana Sanskar (Yajnopavit Sanskar) was organised in the prestigious Chudamani Sanskrit Sansthan Basohli.
In this programme, a total of 24 students , along with those who had newly entered the Gurukul, took the vow of celibacy along with the Yajnopavit .
Chief Trustee of the Gurukul, Shakti Pathak, Director Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), said on this occasion that sixteen Sanskars have a very important place in our Sanatan culture. It is only through Sanskars that man attains the path of God on the path of saintly humanity.
“The scriptures say about this subject – Janmana Brahmanogyeya Sanskaarat Dwija Uchyate. Vedabhyaase Bhavet Viprastribhih Shrotriya Lakshanam. That is, all Brahmins are Kshatriya and Vaishya by birth. But due to Sanskar, he attains Dvijatva, by reciting Vedas and after becoming pure and knowledgeable, he becomes capable of doing all the virtuous deeds. Among the same sixteen Sanskars, Yagyopaveet Sanskar has an important place because without Yagyopaveet Sanskar, we cannot receive initiation from the Guru, acquire knowledge etc, we cannot get all the fruits of Yagyas without Yagyopaveet Sanskar,” he explained.
Following the same rituals, this Yagyopaveet Sanskar was performed by the Vedic scholars amid chanting of mantras, under the guidance of Chief Trustee Shakti Pathak and leadership of Principal Dr Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra and manager Mahendrapal Upadhyay.
At last the celibate group reached the Gurukul after touring the entire city. All the executive members of the institute, Acharya Anmol, Acharya Sahil, Acharya Rajesh, Acharya Anil Kumar, Acharya Ramrani , Praveena, Lalita, all the workers of the institute, parents of the students, citizens of Vishwasthali Nagar (Basohli) and hundreds of community members, were present on the occasion.
