JAMMU, Sept 23: Upinder Singh from Hydraulic Department was last night elected as president of All J&K Diploma Engineers Association in the keenly contested election.
Diploma Engineers from various Government Depar-tments including Electrical, Mechanical, R&B and PDD took part in the elections.
Upinder Singh was elected as president of the Association as he secured a total of 854 votes. His opponents VK Trikha from Hydraulic Department and Raja Aftab Ahmed from R&B Department bagged 717 and 52 votes respectively.
For the post of vice president, Narinder Singh from Mechanical Department and JS Rathore from PDD were the contesting candidates, in which Singh emerged the winner.
Vijay Sharma from R&B Department and Bayant Singh from R&B were the contesting candidates for the post of general secretary, in which Vijay Sharma bagged the post.
Rakesh Goswani from PDD thrashed Sunil Sharma from Hydraulic Department by 7 votes and claimed joint secretary’s post, whereas Ravinder Singh from R&B trounced Sushil Bakshi from R&B by 7 votes and bagged chief organizer’s post.
For the post of publicity secretary, Arunesh Sharma from Hydraulic Department and Khursheed-ul-Islam from Mechanical Department were the contesting candidates, where Arunesh Sharma registered win by 180 votes.
Naresh Sawhney from Hydraulic Department stunned Ichpal Singh and bagged general secretary’s post.
Rajesh Sharma, Sayeed Tariq and Sanjeev Dubey were elected as executive body members (Hydraulic), whereas KC Raina, Sanjay Sharma and Pawan Sharma as executive body members (Electrical).
Vijay Suman Gupta and Rahul Dev were elected as executive body members (Mechanical), while KK Sharma, Vimal Gupta and Madan Gopal Samyal as executive body members (R&B).
