SRINAGAR:
The upper reaches in Gulmarg and holy Amarnath cave shrine and other heights received fresh snowfall today.
It started snowing heavily after dark clouds since this morning at Affarwat, the highest skiing point connected by Cable Cars from Gulmarg, a hotel owner reporters over phone. Snow continued for about two hours and all trees and open field turned white, much to the delight of tourists.
However, at Gulmarg it was raining heavily, he said, adding hundreds of tourists, from different parts of the country and abroad are reaching the ski resort daily. The other heights in the Gulmarg also received snowfall, reports reaching here said.
The holy Amarnath cave shrine and its periphery besides Sheshnag, Mahaguns, Pisso top and Panjterni on traditional yatra route also received fresh snowfall.
Governor N N Vohra, who is chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) is scheduled to have aerial recee of both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam route tomorrow as the annual 59-day-long pilgrimage to holy Cave shrine in south Kashmir Himlayas will commence from July 2. (AGENCIES)
