Srinagar, Aug 30: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) demand of condemnation of RSS chief Mohan Bagwat’s reported statement that “Hindustan Mai Rehna Hai To Hindu Ban Kay Rehna Hai” led to uproar in the House and war of words between PDP and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) members.
The PDP MLA, Nizamuddin Bhat, raised the issue of the statement of RSS Chief as soon as the Legislative Assembly assembled this morning.
Bhat said that Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim majority State which has joined secular India. He demanded that House should condemn the statement of the RSS Chief.
The BJP members protested against Nizamuddin’s demand and raised slogans like Vande Mataram. The PDP leaders also raised the slogans like Jis Kashmir Kou Khoon Say Sincha Voh Kashmir Hamara Hi.
The war of words between the BJP members and PDP members and sloganeering continued for long before the BJP members stormed into the Well of House.
Speaker Mubarak Gul asked from BJP members what will happen by coming into the Well of the House. “This country belongs to all citizens, irrespective of their religion, cast, creed, colour and region. It is of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and all have given sacrifices for this country. India is not of Hindus only”, he added.
Speaker said Jammu and Kashmir has joined secular India of Gandhi. “We condemn the statement of RSS Chief Mohan Bagwat”, he added.
Speaker’s statement led to counter slogan shouting between PDP and BJP members.
Independent MLA Er Sheikh Abdul Rashid alleged that PDP only wanted to score points as this issue was raised by him on the first day of the session. “Why did you keep silent during all these days?” he asked the PDP members.
Rashid said there was a match fixing between PDP and BJP who wanted to gain votes in Kashmir and Jammu respectively by raising this issue.
