JAMMU, July 28: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has approved the promotion of seven officers of 1998 and 1999 select lists from State Forest Service of Jammu and Kashmir to Indian Forest Service (IFS) in compliance to an order issued by the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) Chandigarh.

As per an order issued by Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, the promotion orders were issued in line with the Indian Forest Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1966, and following the April 3, 2017 order from the CAT Chandigarh Bench in OA number 723/JK/2010 filed by one of the officers BK Bhagat.
The officers of 1998 select list who have been promoted to IFS are BK Bhagat, VK Raina, and Ashwani Kumar Gupta, while the officers of select list 1999 who have been promoted are MM Gupta, SK Kohli, Farooq Ahmed Gilani and Javed Iqbal Panjoo.
