NEW DELHI, Mar 9: Urad and its dal prices shot up by Rs 500 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on emergence of stockists buying following pick-up in demand from retailers against restricted supplies.
Gram and masoor also ended higher on pick up in demand.
Traders said fresh buying by stockists on the back of pick up in demand from retailers against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up urad and other prices.
In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka local surged by Rs 500 each to Rs 6,200-7,100 and Rs 6,400-6,500 per quintal. Its dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 6,500-7,000 and Rs 6,900-7,100 per quintal.
Gram, gramdal local and best quality were up by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,650-5,800, Rs 6,500-6,800 and Rs 6,900-7,000 per quintal.
Besan Shaktibhog and Rajdhani quoted higher at Rs 2,550 each instead of Rs 2,500 each per 35 kg bag.
Masoor small and bold too finished higher by Rs 50 each to Rs 4,700-4,850 and Rs 4,750-4,950 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality enquired higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,100-5,600 and Rs 5,200-5,700 per quintal.
