Urdu Development Council holds meet

JAMMU, Feb 17: A meeting of Urdu Development Council Jammu and Kashmir was held here today under the chairmanship of its president and former MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman.
In the meeting, injustice with the State official language Urdu at every level was discussed.  The members exchanged views on the issue and fixed the next course of action. The meet decided that a joint committee shall meet with Chief Secretary of State and Governor for highlighting the issues.
Sheikh Abdul Rahman said that Urdu is   not only official language of J&K but also communication between different regions of the State.
The meeting had expressed its concern that the then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah did nothing on the detailed memorandum, which was submitted to him for Urdu.
The meeting was attended by Dr Shohab Inayat Malik, Professor Asad Allah Wani, Wali Mohammad Aseer, Khurshid Kazmi, Sham Talib, Rahat Hussain, Mohammad Sharif Sartaj, Arsh Om Dalmotra, Raj Kumar Chandan, Sheikh Shafi, Mohammad Ashraf Banihali, Jamshed Akhter and Shashi Verma.
