Urdu play ‘Kargil’ staged

JAMMU, July 28: Progres-sive Youth Society performed an Urdu play ‘Kargil’ at Police Auditorium, Jammu, which was written and directed by O P Shakir in association with Aditya Bhanu.
The play was performed in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Government of India under Cultural Function and Production Grant Scheme.
Randeep Kumar, SSP, was present on the occasion as a chief guest while Gurdit Singh was  guest of honour.
The story of the play Kargil is based on the life of Sudhir who wants to join the army to serve the nation like his father who has already attained martyrdom for his country. As he grows up, his curiosity increases day by day and one day after a lot of hard work he finally joins Indian army. As he goes ahead, he senses that the things are not in his favour. He sees things practically and finds a lot of disparities in this system somuchso even the genuine grievances remain unheard.
The play beautifully depicts the scenario that there is a stress on these people. The basic difficulties like improper leave roaster, diet issues, monitoring system etc have been highlighted in the play to draw the attention of the concerned towards their sufferings.
The artists who performed in this play included Anil Bhat as Sudhir, Sandhya as Shalini, Ashish Bhat as Pakistani Capt, Parveen Kumar as Signalman, Rohit Verma as Vehshi/ George , Ishu Sharma as Binny, Irfana Bano as Nurse 1, Suman Lata as Nurse 2, Dewankshi Sabikhi as Major Maa, Varun Sharma as Colonel, Sahil Singh Rajput as Major, Rishab Manhas as Sukhdev, Mukesh Choudhary as Khudabaksh, Dilshad Ahmed as Postman/ Altamash Khan, Raja Imtiyaz as Pakistani soldier, Tejasvi Rampal as Pakistani soldier/ Aadmi, Kavita Massi as Colonel’s Wife, Shalliza Singh as Shalini’s mother, Shivam Bhat as Anil’s friend, Suraj Singh as Neelam Singh, Indu Mankotia as Doctor and Mohan Kumar as Pakistani soldier.
The lights were executed by Aditya Bhanu while music was handled by Visharad Dalmotra. Make up was done by Ritu Manhas and costumes by Shilakha Sharma. Sets and Property were managed by Mohit Sharma.
