Urdu’s major poet Arsh Sehbai no more

JAMMU, Dec 27: Urdu’s major and Jammu’s foremost poet Arsh Sehbai is no more.
Born as Hans Raj Abrol on 3rd December 1930, at village Seri, he later migrated to Jammu and settled in Resham Ghar Colony, Jammu. He started writing poetry at an early age under the pen name Arsh Sehbai. For his poetic excellence, he enjoyed popularity and admiration both in India and Pakistan.
The nonagenarian poet who had retired as an administrative officer from All India Radio was one of the most celebrated and awarded poets of the J&K. He was three times bestowed with the State Award.
Arsh Sehbai has published more than half a dozen of his poetic collections. One of the most respected Urdu poets from Jammu and Kashmir, his death has been widely condoled by the literary organizations of Urdu as well as other languages.
