Sir,
The rampant non-compliance with RERA regulations by both private developers and government agencies like JDA and SDA in Jammu and Kashmir is deeply concerning. While RERA was established to protect homebuyers and ensure transparency, the lack of registration for ongoing projects leaves consumers vulnerable and undermines the authority’s purpose. Many government housing colonies suffer from insufficient infrastructure, and private developers continue to market unregistered projects, putting buyers at risk.
RERA must adopt a stricter enforcement stance, including publishing a list of non-compliant projects and penalizing offenders. Collaboration with the Housing and Urban Development Department to enforce compliance and public outreach initiatives to educate homebuyers can restore confidence in the region’s real estate sector. This disregard for RERA erodes trust and affects the region’s development integrity.
