Srinagar, Dec 30: Urs of revered sufi saint, Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani, was observed with religious fervour today.
Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), popularly known as Ghous-ul-Azam and Dastageer Sahib, was an 11th century saint hailing Central Asian city of Jeelan, whose Urs is observed on 11th day of Rabi Al Thani—the fourth month of the Islamic Hijri Calendar.
The biggest congregation was held at the shrine of Dastageer Sahib at Khanyar in old city where thousands of people gathered to have glimpse of the holy relic of the revered saint. Night long prayers were also held at Dastageer Sahib shrine and in various other shrines across the Valley.
