Washington, Mar 10: The US House of Representatives passed omnibus spending legislation to fund the federal government through September 30 and provide 13.6 billion USD in assistance to Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian military operation.
The bill was passed on Wednesday evening.
The legislation would fund the US government through September 30, 2022. Current funding is set to run out on Friday at midnight. The bill appropriates 730 billion USD in nondefence funding and 782 billion USD for defence, as well as 13.6 billion USD for humanitarian, economic and defence assistance for Ukraine.
The measure, which does not include language to revoke Russia’s permanent normal trade relations status, is now heading to Senate for consideration.
The US House also passed legislation to ban US imports of Russian energy products and to encourage the World Trade Organisation to suspend Russia’s trade concessions.
The House passed the measure on late Wednesday night with a 414-17 vote, it heads to the Senate for consideration.
The measure also reauthorises and strengthens the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act to cover corruption to impose more sanctions against Russia.
