US Sec of State to visit India from June 23-25

NEW DELHI :  US Secretary of State John Kerry will arrive here on June 23 to attend the fourth India-US Strategic Dialogue on full range of cooperation between the two countries on various bilateral, regional and global issues.
Mr Kerry who will be traveling here from Doha, will hold talks with Indian leaders on bilateral and regional economic engagement, regional security and Defence, science and technology, climate change and other global issues such as women’s empowerment, non-proliferation and space cooperation, a spokesman of the US embassy here said today.
Sources said the situation in Syria and Afghanistan are also expected to come up during the discussions.
In Syria, arming of rebels and in Afghanistan, peace talks with Taliban are the two major issues that is occupying centre-stage of global diplomacy.
While in Delhi, Secretary Kerry will also open the second annual US-India Higher Education Dialogue, give a policy speech on bilateral and regional issues and meet young leaders and innovators at an event highlighting US-India cooperation on clean energy, climate change, science and technology and poverty alleviation.
The Indo-US strategic Dialogue, inaugurated in 2009,  is a forum for discussing the full range of US-India  cooperation on bilateral and regional issues, reflecting  the strong strategic partnership between the two countries.
Mr Kerry who will be here till June 25, will travel  to Jeddah, Kuwait City, Amman, Jerusalem, and Bandar  Seri Begawan.
On June 22-23 in Doha, he will attend a meeting with  the ‘London 11’ Foreign Ministers to discuss the situation in Syria, including support to the Syrian opposition and efforts to advance a political solution.
