JAMMU, Jan 27: Usha Vohra, First Lady, attended “Ladies Cultural Programme”organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) as part of Republic Day celebrations at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar here today.
Lauding the cultural programme, which was based on the themes of national integration, female foeticide and women empowerment, Mrs. Vohra said girl child has every and equal right to have the kind of life which boys enjoy and there is urgent need to change the mindset of society in this regard. She said that providing an amicable environment for bringing up a girl child by the parents would be as rewarding as when they bring up their male progeny.
Mrs. Vohra said that being a women is a wonderful and proud feeling and nothing could be compared to the beauty of womanhood. She suggested organizing many such programmes for the women which would provide them a platform to showcase their talents and foster the true spirit of womanhood.
She was highly appreciative of the exuberance of the participants which included teachers and students from different educational institutions, and participants from Women Welfare Organisations. She also complimented the YSS Department for its efforts to introduce new and interesting cultural items every year.
Kaneez Fatima, Registrar General, High Court, Seema Aggarwal, Ruby Sharma were the guests of honour. Fatima and Mrs. Aggarwal also spoke and presented their views on the themes of the cultural programme and appreciated the talent of the participants.
Naveen Aggarwal, Director General, Youth Services and Sports, presented the Welcome Address and Kanchan Bala, Deputy Director, Youth Services and Sports, presented a Vote of Thanks on the occasion.
