USTA highlights demands

JAMMU, Sept 27: J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) highlighted their demands in a meeting held today under the chairmanship of its president Rajeev Kumar.
The main demands that came up for discussion include releasing 7th Pay Commission arrears and DA arrears of Masters working as Head Teachers under Samagra, converting these posts into non-plan, releasing grants to clear pending salary for the month of January 2020 of some of these Masters as well as clear pending salary and D A arrears of ReTs regularized between 2014-2018.
The speakers also demanded adjustment of all the left out newly promoted lecturers in various subjects, who are waiting for their adjustments for over a year and filling up of all the existing vacant posts of masters, lectures, headmasters, ZEOs and principals and the non teaching staff in the Education Department by way of early DPC.
They further stressed upon regularization of all incharge lecturers, headmasters, ZEOs principals, and other officers whose files are pending with the human resource management cell, Civil Secretariat. The speakers also demanded implementation of norm based transfer policy and transfer of teachers, masters, lecturers who are working in far-flung/difficult areas for the last so many years.
The demands like debarring teachers from all types of non-academic duties, starting pre-primary classes in each school having primary classes by providing proper infrastructure and releasing first time-bound promotion in favour of undergraduate teachers appointed with effect from January 1992 to 1997 also came up for discussion.
The meeting in one voice called upon the Government, especially the Advisor to the LG, to take a serious view of the situation on the ground and concede the demands of the teaching community.
