USTA holds protest, projects demands

JAMMU, Nov 2: The activists of J & K United School Teachers Association (USTA) from various districts of Jammu Province under the leadership of its President Rajeev Kumar assembled near Press Club and staged strong protest demonstration to seek the attention of Government towards the long pending demands.
The demands include repeal NEP 2020, stop online teaching and start direct classroom teaching in school, withdraw NPS restore OPS, regularize all lecturers, headmasters and other officers working in their own pay and grade, fill up all teaching and non teaching vacancies, implement norm based transfer policy for all including grade 2 and grade 3 teachers, DPC for all cadres, withdraw teachers from all type of non academic duties, regularize all contractual, ReT and seasonal teachers regularize all contractual Ret and seasonal teachers, bring employees working in rural under 16 per cent mufasil allowance, withdraw policy of sacking inconvenient employees that too unheard after completing 22 years of service and 48 years of age, release pending DA, release salary of teachers working under NPS and decentralization of powers to subordinate officers.
While addressing the gathering Rajeev Kumar expressed his great concern over the lackadaisical approach of the authorities towards long pending demands and stressed upon the authorities to release pending salary of teachers under NPS and pending DA in favor of employees before Diwali.
Addressing the protesters, Yonus Rahi, Senior Vice President demanded withdrawal of NPS and restore old pension scheme. He further argues to fill all vacant posts in schools and withdraw teachers from all type of non-academic duties.
USTA called upon the Government to take serious thought to concede the demands, otherwise teaching community will further be compelled to resort to further agitation in near future.
Others who addressed includes Roop Chand, Kanta Devi, Sunil Thapa, Pradeep Singh, Zulifkar Ali Malik, Ganesh Dutt, Ashok Kumar, Anju Devi, Angad Singh, Sandesh Kumar, Pardeep Singh, Rashpal Singh and Bashir Ahmed.
