USTA reviews preparations for provincial conference, highlights demands

KATHUA, Dec 22: A meeting of J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) was held here today under the chairmanship of Hari Singh, provincial president, to review the preparations of provincial conference, which is going to be held at Tangri Palace Kathua on December 25, 2019.
Later talking to the media persons, USTA provincial president said that policies of privatization and commercialization of Education are preventing the wards of weaker sections of the society to get quality education while the Government is not considering long pending genuine demands of teaching community and their rights are being snatched one by one. He appealed the administration to modify hard hit recent transfer orders of Masters and implement transparent and norms based transfer policy.
The USA leader also demanded release pending salary and arrears of 7th Pay Commission as well as DA arrear in favour of Masters working as Head Teacher, Teacher Grade II and III, regularization of In charge Lecturers, Headmasters, ZEOs and Principals, all ReTs who have completed 5 years service and EVS who are working in the Department for the last 15 years, In-Situ promotions in favour of under graduates teachers appointed between 1992-1997, adjustment of all newly promoted lecturers at an earliest in one go, 16 percent HRA to the employees working in rural areas, no non-academic duties to the teachers and restoration of Old Pension Scheme.
Hari Singh said that USTA will bring resolutions on these demands in the coming conference and chalk out future course of action. He further appealed the authorities at the helm of affairs to concede the demands at an earliest otherwise association will be compelled to resort to agitation in near future. Others who were present on the occasion, included Rajeev Kumar, Pardeep Singh, Roop Chand, Raj Kumar, Zulfkar Ali Malik, DP Angral, Netar Chand, Noor Aalam, Romesh Chander, Rakesh Kumar, Shamsher Singh and Manohar Singh.
