JAMMU, Oct 5: United School Teachers Association (USTA) is going to hold protest in front of Directorate of School Education on October 12, to seek the attention of the Government on the issues of the teaching fraternity of the State.
This was disclosed by Hari Singh, president, J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA), during a press conference, here today.
He said that the thousands of vacancies of both teaching and non-teaching staff have not been referred to the selection boards and class IV employees have not been promoted to the posts to which they have been entitled.
He said that the Education Department is brooding over the issue and is yet to take decision over it, adding, that the selection grade meant for under-graduate teachers has not been released so far besides various other demands of teaching community.
“Thousands of Headmasters, Lecturers, ZEO’s, Principals and CEO’s have not been regularized on their respective posts, giving rise to the culture of adhocism”, Singh added.
As the prices of the essential commodities are touching sky, teachers under Rehbar-e-Taleem and Education Volunteers are working on the meager wage of Rs 1,000-Rs 1,500 per month, and he demanded Rs 10,000 per month as wages to them.
Singh called upon the Government to take a cue for transfer policy and rules frames in the State of Andhra Pradesh and implement the same with necessary modification after interaction with the representatives of the teaching community.
Among others present were Rajeev Kumar, general secretary, Sewa Ram, Darshan Lal Sharma, Dr Shashi Pal Singh, Chamel Singh, Raj Kumar and Pardeep Singh.
