JAMMU, June 24: Taking serious note of the decision of the UT administration to sanction scholarship for children of terrorists, several organizations and prominent individuals today warned that such policies would prove disastrous for nation’s security.
In a statement, chairman of Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal expressed surprise over formulating this policy which is among 27 Government services available online. “Sanctioning scholarship for the children of terrorists, who had declared a war against the country, would encourage only anti-national forces”, Zorawar Singh said and observed that by launching such highly controversial scheme, UT administration was glorifying terrorists indulged in gruesome killings.
Team Jammu chief further said that the highly controversial decision is also an insult to the forces who have been fighting Pakistan sponsored proxy war as well as a humiliating blow to all those youth of J&K who are patriots and unemployed.
“By this single act, the Government has demonstrated its total lack of empathy for the suffering unemployed youth,” he said and asked the Government to withdraw its decision failing which the Team Jammu activists will intensify their protests. He also asked the BJP leaders of the UT to clear their stand on the issue.
Senior Congress leader Sumeet Magotra also said that the Government order on scholarship to the children of killed militants is not only anti-national but also breaks the moral of security forces that are fighting against the militancy for the last three decades.
While addressing media persons at Udhampur, Magotra said that the Lt Governor cannot have issued such order without the consent of Union Government. “While the general public of J&K is suffering because of increased taxes, price hike, toll plazas etc, the Government is sympathizing with the families of terrorists, who killed innocent people and security forces,” he said.
Magotra warned that the Congress party would not tolerate anti-people policies of the BJP Government at Centre and will launch a public agitation over these issues in near future.
