JAMMU, Oct 28: The NSS Unit of Government Polytechnic College Bikram Chowk Jammu celebrated Foundation Day of UT by organising a debate competition on the topic “Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat” to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.
In the debate competition, the first position was bagged by Jasinder Kumar, 1st Semester Electrical Engineering, second position won by Archita Gupta 1st Semester, Civil Engineering and 3rd place won by Kamal Singh of Automobile Engineering Department. In quiz competition eight different departments of the college took part and the team of Electrical Engineering comprising Subhash Singh, Ojasvini, Rohit Kendal, Gursahib Singh, Jagat Ram and Harsh Verma of 5th Semester remained victorious.
The IQAC of Government Degree College Samba celebrated the stage-2 UT Foundation Day with a string of competitions in Painting, Essay Writing, Photography and Videography resonating immense progress J&K has realised in its new avatar in higher education. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony wherein the position holders of different competitions were presented with medals and certificates of participation.
Rupaank Aryan (GDC, Vijaypur) , Seema Devi (GDC, Samba) and Riya Devi (GDC, Ghagwal) secured the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in Essay writing themed on “Changing Jammu and Kashmir, Progressing Jammu and Kashmir”. Kavya Charak (GDC, Vijaypur), Saloni Sambyal (GDC, Samba) and Alisha (GDC, Ramgarh) clinched the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in Painting. Vikas Sharma (GDC, Purmandal), Keshav Mehra (GDC, Vijaypur) and Vineet Sharma (GDC, Samba) bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in Photography whereas in Videography, Mohit Singh (GDC, Ramgarh), Varun Singh (GDC, Samba) and Haroon Malik (GDC, Vijaypur) won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. The programme was anchored by Dr. Manjula Gupta and coordinated by Dr. Joginder Singh, Coordinator IQAC.
On the eve of Foundation Day of UT, Government Polytechnic for Women, Jammu organised a plantation drive. The ornamental plant, saplings were planted in the Institution lawns by the students and staff under the guidance of Er. Suket Gupta, Principal, Govt. Polytechnic for Women, Jammu encouraged the students to give back to the community by volunteering in such activities. The program was coordinated by NSS program Officer, Bhavna Arora.
The main campus of the University of Jammu was abuzz with activity and enthusiasm as “Utsaah,” the Clubs, commenced its celebrations in connection with the upcoming UT Foundation Day. Painting Club, Literary Club, Film Club and Photography Club organised multifarious activities under the aegis of “Utsaah,” the Clubs. Prof. Monika Sethi, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Department of Students’ Welfare and Convener, Community Radio was the chief guest on this occasion.
Amongst the participants who excelled in various activities and secured prizes were Skanda Sharma, Jhanvi and Preeti Manhas in the field of Painting. Maithili Manhas, Aatiqa Malik and Bhavana Sharma in Essay Writing Competition secured first, second, and third positions, respectively. In the field of photography the three coveted positions were procured by Mohd Kamil, Chetan Atri and Pranav, respectively. Rajveer Singh obtained the first prize in the category of Film Making.
