UT Foundation Day celebrated in different colleges

JAMMU, Oct 27: As part of the Union Territory Foundation Day, different programmes have been organised in different colleges of Jammu region here today.
Govt. Degree College Udhampur under the patronage of Principal Prof. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta organized District Level Inter-College competitions on Essay writing, Painting, Photography and Videography.
The colleges of district Udhampur (one in each category) Viz. GDC Chenani, GDC Majalta, GDC Ramnagar, GDC Neeli Nallah, GCW Udhampur and the host college participated with great zeal and zest. There was a neck-to- neck competition in all events.
In the Essay writing competition, the first Position (Winner) was clinched by Sunidhi Mahajan of GDC Ramnagar whereas the second Position was shared by Baljeet Singh of GDC Udhampur and Kavya Sharma of GDC Chenani. Sohani Mahajan of GCW Udhampur stood third while Rabia Shehreen of GDC Neeli Naalah had to satisfy with consolation. The event was judged by Prof. Samta Sharma and Dr. Kawaljeet Kour. Dr. Jasmeet Kour was the Incharge of the event.
Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College Samba organized a vibrant intramural celebration to commemorate UT Foundation Day. The students displayed their skills and talent in the Stage-I competition which included Essay Writing, Videography, Photography, and Painting to be followed by the District Level Stage 2 Contest. The event was organised under the aegis of IQAC. Dr Twinkle Suri, Principal of the college eulogized the creative efforts of students in displaying the changing innovative roadmap of higher education in recent years.
The Essay Writing Competition themed on “Changing Jammu and Kashmir, Progressing Jammu and Kashmir: A New Vision for Peace and Development witnessed a massive participation of students with Seema Devi bagging the 1st, followed by Mansi Sharma and Mansi Charak at 2nd and 3rd positions.
In the Videography Competition, the students showcased their creativity through the lens featuring the transformative journey of the UT of J and K. Varun Singh won the 1st prize followed by Raju Kumar and Deepak Singh clinching the 2nd and 3rd positions.
The Government Degree College Vijaypur celebrated Union Territory Foundation Day. In this regard, Cultural Committee of GDC Vijaypur in collaboration with NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) organized various intra college activities to display development post formation of JK as a UT. Students of the college actively participated in various activities enthusiastically with great zeal.
The programme was presided over by SDM Vijaypur, Rajesh Kumar Attri who highlighted various projects and developments that have taken place in J&K in these four years as a UT. In addition to the celebration he also threw light on the menace of drug abuse and how to overcome it. Principal of the College, Dr. (Prof.) Vandana Gupta followed by presenting a memento to the Chief Guest.
Government Degree College Ramgarh organized a series of activities to mark the celebrations of J&K UT Foundation day. These activities were organized by the College Advisory Committee under the able guidance and coordination of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College. A large number of students participated in the activities with great zeal and enthusiasm.
In photography Competition, first position was secured by Akshay Singh Bagal, Semester-V while second and third positions were bagged by Jagmeet kour, Semester-III and Tanu Sharma, Semester-III respectively.
In Videography competition, first position was bagged by Mohit Singh, semester III, second position by Ritika Manhas, Semester-V and third position was clicked by Varsha Salaria, Semester-V.
In the Painting Competition, First and second position was secured by Alisha Menia, Semester-III and Jagmeet Kour, Semester-III and Tanu Sharma, Semester-III.
In Essay writing Competition, First and second prize was bagged by Chaht Tidyal, Semester -1st and Jagmeet Kour, Semester-III while third position was clicked by Anjali Bavouria, Semester-1st. The organizing committee of the activities included Dr. Sandeep Kumari, Dr. Shamsher Lal, Dr. Sandeep Kumar and Prof. Risha Kumari.
Government P G College Rajouri organized an inter-college mega event here today on the theme “Badalta Jammu n Kashmir and Badhta Jammu and Kashmir – Aman aur Taraqqi ki Nayi Tasveer” (Changing Jammu and Kashmir – A New Picture of Peace and Progress). The event showcased the talents of students from various colleges in District Rajouri.
The event, which aimed to promote cultural exchange and artistic expressions, featured competitions in essay writing, photography, videography, and painting. All colleges in District Rajouri actively participated and presented their unique perspectives on the theme.
A distinguished panel of judges, consisting of Prof Asadullah Khan Staff Secretary, Prof Sajar Malik, Prof Junaid Jazib, and Prof Anzar Malik, assessed the participants’ entries and selected the winners. Sheraz Ahmed from GDC Rajouri, Aman Raina from GDC Sunderbani, and Sawer Singh from GDC Budhal were awarded the first, second, and third positions respectively in the Videography competition.
In the Painting competition, Ibrish Bi from GDC Rajouri, Jaweria Khan from GDC Thanamndi, and Muskan from GDC Budhal secured the first, second, and third positions respectively.
The Photography category saw Adnan Aqib from GDC Thanamndi, Manisha Thakur from GDC Kalakote, and Muzamal Hussain from GDC Budhal securing the first, second, and third positions respectively.
In the final category of the event, Girja Gupta from GDC Sunderbani, Saba Naz from GDC Thanamndi, and Sandya Devi from GDC Rajouri emerged as the winners of the first, second, and third positions respectively.
