JAMMU, Dec 6: The UT-level Kala Utsav 2024, organized by Samagra Shiksha J&K, concluded today at the Convention Centre, Jammu, with a spectacular display of cultural talent. Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary of the School Education Department, was the chief guest. The celebration highlighted the diverse cultural richness of Jammu and Kashmir, with students and teachers from various districts participating.
The Project Director of Samagra Shiksha presented the welcome address, underscoring the significance of integrating arts into education for fostering emotional and intellectual growth. He informed the gathering that 12 group and solo performances were selected at the divisional level. He also expressed gratitude to the teachers and organizers for making the event a success.
Suresh Kumar Gupta praised the exceptional performances, stressing the importance of nurturing artistic potential in students. He emphasized that the Kala Utsav initiative promotes creativity and unity through cultural diversity. Gupta also acknowledged the role of teachers in identifying and encouraging young talent, highlighting that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes cultural initiatives for holistic student development.
The event featured top performances in various categories: Dance (Group) – Dawn Public School, Rajouri; Vocal Music (Group) – HS Chhatriari, Udhampur; Visual Arts (Solo) – Shivanshi Thakur, St. Xavier’s Convent School, Kathua; Traditional Storytelling – Jatin and Sourav, GHSS Nagri Parole, Kathua; Drama (Group) – GHSS Khanna Chhargal, Jammu; and Instrumental Music (Solo) – Ishfaq Hameed, Doon International School, Baramulla.
The winners will now represent Jammu and Kashmir at the National Kala Utsav. The event was attended by Padam Shree awardee Rumalo Ram, Rakesh Magotra, Director School Education Jammu, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Dy. Director (P) Samagra Shiksha, Bilal Rashid and Mohammad Rameez Khan, CAO Samagra Shiksha, among other officials.
