UT level panel to assess ground water resources in J&K

JAMMU, Aug 30: Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered constitution of a UT level committee for the assessment of ground water resources in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per an order issued in this context, Administrative Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, has been appointed as the Chairman of the panel, while as Administrative Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, Directors Agriculture, Jammu/Kashmir, Directors Industries, Jammu/Kashmir, Chief Engineers, Jal Shakti (PHE), Jammu/Kashmir, Chief Engineers, Jal Shakti (I&FC), Jammu/Kashmir, General Manager, NABARD, Jammu, representative of Central Water Commission, representative from Rural Development Department and SKUAST-Jammu/Kashmir, representative from Geology and Mining Department (not below the rank of Additional Secretary), representative of Forest, Ecology & Environment Department (not below the rank of Additional Secretary) shall be the members of the panel.
While Regional Director, Central Ground Water Board, Jammu shall be the member secretary of the panel, any other officer to be co-opted by the Chairman of the Committee, if required, shall be the special invitee, said the order.
