JAMMU, Dec 17: Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey has issued directions for exploring the possibility of utilizing the experience and expertise of the world renowned professionals for ensuring that the glory and the pristine beauty of the Sonamarg is not only preserved for the present but for future also.
In the court on its own motion, the DB observed, “we are not sure of the expertise which the Chief Town Planner has in framing a Master Plan and we are not also informed as to why the importance of the issue is being left to risks and chances”, adding “in a 21st century the ideas and plans for developing and maintaining a tourist destination like Sonamarg should be based on scientific strategies and expertise of eminence instead of entrusting and making it a one-man-story”.
“We direct the Amicus-Curiae and the Government counsels to come up with the report on next date. There are many ideas going in the mind of the court like to have a definite area for construction, a prohibited area for construction, a uniform pattern for the constructions required to be made for the facilities of the tourists etc”, the DB said, adding “both the sides need to work in that direction and come up with their respective stand on the next date of hearing.
The DB further said, “the Amicus Curiae shall inform as to how and which agencies would be best suited for the job and how they could be associated with the process while as Government counsels shall apprise about the bottlenecks in such course so that a passage is made for the smooth process”.
