JAMMU, Aug 1: Government of Jammu and Kashmir today accorded sanction to the constitution of UT Level Steering Committee (UTLSC) and Monitoring Committee (UTLMC) for formulation of UT specific Action Plan on Water Security, Safety and Sustainability under the National water Mission in J&K.
The UTLSC, headed by the Chief Secretary with Administrative Secretary , Jal Shakti Department as the Vice-Chairman and Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Department Jammu as the Convenor, will associate with various Government Departments, Expert institutions, Water Experts and civil society sector to oversee the preparation of UT Specific Action Plan for water sector.
The committee shall guide regular mentoring and monitoring by the UT Level Monitoring Committee and approve three reports- Status Report, Interim Report and UTSAP. The committee shall meet on quarterly basis.
The UTLMC is headed by Administrative Secretary, Jal Shakti Department with Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, Jammu as the Convenor.
It shall also associate with representatives of the Administrative Secretaries of various departments, user departments, members from expert institutions, civil society sector and Expert Institutions to regularly monitor the preparation of UTSAP for water sector.
It shall form core drafting committee under the leadership of UT Nodal officer and facilitate it as per need.
