It is quite heartening to learn how six districts of Jammu and Kashmir have shown exemplary results in implementation of the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) to bring about rural development as these districts find their place prominently among the best 30 top districts in the country. Added importance attained by these six districts is that all of these are in Jammu division -five falling in Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency while the sixth in Jammu Lok sabha constituency-like Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, Kathua and Rajouri and the district of Udhampur leading in such performance.
Good work not only is apparent , seen as well as ”felt” by all concerned but appreciated too while under or poor performance needs to be improved upon and more efforts to be put in so as to come out of the morass of excuses, ”ifs” and ”buts”. All other districts in Jammu and Kashmir too are implementing the scheme as its umbrella is stretched over all but they too should, next time, find their districts among the best performers in the country and with that spirit, the district administration and implementing/ executing agencies must redouble efforts to improve connectivity in rural areas in Jammu and Kashmir.
