JAMMU, June 11: Minster of Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today said that the Government is making all out efforts to double the farmers income by 2022.
The Minister who was addressing a review meeting of various development schemes and programmes of ongoing welfare projects here today said in this regard several innovative measures have been introduced to enable farmers to get maximum returns from their land to fulfill their dream of doubling the income by 2022.
Lone asked the experts to give a special thrust to Apiculture , Mushroom growing and integrated farming in the State with a special reference to promotion of Bee Keeping in seed production areas and orchards which not only would help in honey production but also enhance pollination, quality seed production and fruit production.
The Minister asked the officers to intensify their field visits and linkage with the farmers to ensure that area specific problems are identified and addressed in time. He urged them to take up all possible steps and measures to increase productivity level of agricultural crops with special reference to Agri-Eco situations and market potential.
He directed officers to take all steps and measures for the revival of Departmental seed Multiplication farms including public private partnership to improve productivity and their economic viability. The Minister said that vacant posts will be made workable very soon through one man one post arrangement to make the Department more vibrant.
Hanjura said that Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna has been started in Jammu Division and it will be started in Kashmir Division also. He said the projects under Pradhan Manti Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) have been submitted to GoI for release of funds.
The Minster expressed the hope that new Director Agriculture who H K Razdan has assumed office some days back will work honesty and dedication for the welfare of farming community.
The Director H K Razdan gave a detailed power point presentation on the previous achievements and ongoing activities of various programmes and schemes of the Department.
