JAMMU, June 23: J&K BJP secretary, Arvind Gupta, who has been assigned the responsibility of Vaccination Convener along with J&K BJP spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan met Director General of Family Welfare, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman and discussed various issues regarding the ongoing vaccination programme in J&K.
Arvind Gupta was briefed that the vaccination for COVID-19 was started on January 16, 2021 in J&K like other parts of the country.
Gupta was also informed that people above 45 years are provided free vaccination by Central Government while for 18-44 years age group, the local Government is purchasing the vaccination from its funds and the people are given the same free of cost.
He was told that private hospitals have been clearly directed to mention the rate of the vaccine on their portals and proper monitoring is regularly being done by the department in this regard.
The officials also told Gupta that the department has fully trained healthcare worker to undertake the vaccination exercise and there is no hesitancy in public and the people are demanding vaccination.
Gupta expressed satisfaction over what he was briefed and appreciated the efforts of the department in fighting COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Shahid Hussain, State Immunization Officer, J&K; Dr. Ajith Nair, Senior Project Officer, United National Development Programme and Anup Luthra, Deputy Director Planning, Health & Family Welfare were also present in the meeting.
