Vadra land deal: SC breather for Congress, Gandhi family

NEW DELHI, Oct 28:  The Supreme Court today refused to entertain a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking CBI probe into Robert Vadra land deals.

A bench headed by Justice R M Lodha while dismissing the PIL, told the petitioner ML Sharma, advocate “Simply because a man is connected to a political family, he does not become a sinner.”

The apex court also told the petitioner “do not resort to the tactics seeking cheap publicity.”

The petitioner, who appeared in person earlier, submitted before the court that Haryana government had allotted a large chunk of land to Vadra, who is the son-in-law of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, causing huge loss to state exchequer.

The Congress has been facing lot of criticism for Vadra land deals which includes allotment of thousands of acres of land in Haryana and Rajasthan.
