JAMMU, Apr 4: Additional Director General of Police Headquarters, (ADGP) S P Vaid today visited various police establishments in the summer capital to assess the situation caused due to heavy rains.
Mr Vaid accompanied by senior police officers, visited Police Headquarters (PHQ) at Pirbagh and took stock of the arrangements made for the opening of Darbar. He asked to take all required measures to make PHQ functional so that the routine work resumes on the scheduled date.
The ADGP also visited CID Headquarters near Emporium Garden, Police Control Room, Police Hospital Batmaloo, Police Public School, Police Housing Colony Bemina and various city police stations, which had come under waters in the recent flood like situation.
He enquired from the concerned about the damages caused to these establishments and asked to make efficient and effective measures for dewatering from the premises of these establishments. He was told that Jawans and officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police, besides remaining active with the civil administration to evacuate the people to safer places, saved the records and property of the department. Timely action was taken to shift the records and moveable properties to safer places to ensure their safety, the ADGP was told.
Mr. Vaid stressed upon the officers to make all police establishments functional immediately so that the normal policing does not affect. He said that last year floods have served a lesson to take safety and precautionary measures to save the properties from any damages during such situations. He said that the heavy rains in the Valley had created a flood like situation, causing panic among the people. Our jawans and officers showed a great professionalism and dedication in evacuating the people from the submerged areas to safer places without wasting time.
