JAMMU, Apr 11: Government College of Education (GCOE), Jammu collaborated with the Directorate of AYUSH, J&K to inaugurate Vaishakh Arogya Utsav here on the occasion of Baisakhi.
The two-day program aimed to promote the Indian traditional knowledge system through educational institutions.
The event was convened by Dr Mohan Singh, Director AYUSH, and inaugurated by Prof Aekta Gupta, Principal, GCOE Jammu.
Dr Zubair Kales, Dean, School of Education, was the guest of honor. The program included a free AYUSH awareness and health check-up camp, “Prakriti Parikshan”, for the students and faculty of the college.
The experts from the Department of Ayush emphasized the health benefits of millets and showcased the variety of recipes that can be made using millets.
They also stressed that AYUSH medicines are time-tested, cost-effective, and have no side effects.
Dr Gagandeep gave a presentation on “PCOD and PCOS Management with Ayurveda” while Dr Arun Gupta presented a PPT on “Millets and Health benefits of millets in disease prevention”.
An exhibition of Ayurvedic products was also displayed, and students were given products from the Department of AYUSH. Prof. Aekta Gupta appreciated the efforts of the college team to conduct such events that are helpful in the long run.
During the program, a book on “Health & Wellness” authored by Dr Vinod K Bakshi and Prof Ramnadeep Kralia of GCOE Jammu was released. The event ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof Seema Kumari.
