SRINAGAR, May 11: Senior vice president of Peoples Conference and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil has urged the Lt Governor to focus his attention towards daily wagers and release their wages in advance in view of coming Eid festival.
“Eid is approaching nearer but the Anganwadi workers, helpers and daily wagers working in different departments are crying and protesting for their salaries but the Government is giving deaf ear to their genuine demand,” Vakil said and questioned as to how these people will celebrate Eid when they are not given their wages on time.
Vakil said the daily wagers are working hard day and night serving the people and making the departments functional but it is unfortunate that these people have been left in lurch by the Government.
He said the poor Anganwadi Workers, helpers and other daily wagers are already worst hit due to COVID-19 lockdown and making it difficult to meet their both ends meet but Government is acting as a mute spectator.
Vakil urged the Lt Governor to focus his attention towards daily wagers and to release their wages in advance so that they can celebrate Eid with their families with happiness as they have no other source of income except daily earnings.
He also appealed to people to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines and SOPs, as Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing surge in COVID positive cases with each passing day. It is time to take precautions and help the administration in fighting the COVID-19, Vakil added.
