SRINAGAR, May 10: Peoples Conference (PC) senior vice president and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today demanded the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to waive off KCC loans for orchadists, whose fruit crop damaged due to hailstorm and windstorm on Monday.
Vakil raised the demand during his visit to several villages including Lorihama, Binner, Hathlangoo and Bomai of Rafiabad and Zainageer areas of north Kashmir, where he took stock of the damaged caused to apple blossom and other crops due to heavy windstorm and hail storm.
The former Minister demanded a comprehensive compensation to the aggrieved orchardists and farmers. He said whenever natural calamities cause damage to the fruit and crops, the worse affected are assured compensation and even surveys are being conducted. “But no relief reaches to the affected farmers,” he added.
Vakil urged the LG Administration to go for immediate assessment of damages and disburse financial relief to the affected families without any delay. He was accompanied by senior PC leaders Mohammad Muzzafar Naikoo, Noor Mohammad Shagoo, Mohammad Sidiq Lone and several others.
