SOPORE, June 19: Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today described the prevailing situation in J&K as a potential threat to peace and tranquility of the State besides endangering diverse and composite culture here existing since centuries.
Addressing public convention Nowpora today, Mr Vakil blamed Central leadership of BJP for endeavoring to polarize situation in J&K by forcing State Government to invoke and implement contentious agenda like establishment of separate Pandit and Sainik Colonies. He said that after failing to achieve desired results by infusing and fueling trouble in educational institutions, BJP is now indirectly trying to confront Hurriyat leadership through local Government.
Mr Vakil cautioned PDP of adverse consequences of entering into any sort of confrontation with Hurriyat. He said that existence and potentiality of Separatists can’t be ignored in disputed Jammu and Kashmir. He said confrontation with the Hurriyat means adversely affecting trade, tourism and peace in the State and at the end nothing will be achieved by the Government except crediting some unfortunate killings into its account.
He urged and impressed upon Chief Minister to understand the divisive and dangerous plans of BJP, its alliance partner and take a firm stand and resist divisive policies of BJP tooth and nail.
While condemning the recent desecration incidents in Jammu, former Minister said such attempts must become an eye opener for PDP. He made it clear that these incidents are part of a big ploy to destroy economy of J&K and put State into a big trouble.
Congratulating people of Jammu for upholding and respecting peace, Vakil, said that J&K is known as mini India and it is important and necessary for everyone to maintain brotherhood and standup united to resist and defeat divisive elements.
Prominent among those who addressed the convention included Ghulam Nabi Shah, Haji Afzal Khan and former Trade Union leader GM Shagoo.
