Addressing various public meetings at Hamam Markoot, Sein and Ladoora in Rafiabad of district Baramulla, Mr Vakil urged the Chief Minister to constitute an independent commission to probe into the assets of politicians and bureaucrats. Such an independent commission would create fear among corrupt elements to restrain themselves from corrupt practices, he added.
He said that rise of Aam Admi Party in Delhi elections must serve as an eye opener for each and every political party in the country particularly for Congress. Congress must convene discussions and deliberations to find out reasons for debacle in four States, he said and urged the high command to have introspection over the debacle and admit that the shadow of corruption is responsible for decline in party’s popularity.
Vakil said that to uphold and maintain the party’s popularity and image urgency of showing door to every tainted person must be understood and decisions in this behalf must be independent of strength and status of the individual. He said that weeding out corruption in the system is going to be a crucial and decisive factor in forthcoming elections.
Besides others who addressed the gathering include senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Shah, Haji Mohammad Afzal Khan, Pandit Brij Nath Nehru and several others.
