RAFIABAD, Jan 1: Senior Vice President J&K Peoples Conference and Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil has alleged that the UT Government has failed to address the  problems of people living in far-flung areas of Valley, especially the upper belt of Rafiabad.
While touring the upper belt of Rafiabad today including the villages  Shalkoot, Naribal, Braman, Brandub and Wuhlatura, Vakil said that people of upper belt of Rafiabad are craving for development and most of the villages facing electricity crisis, drinking water shortage and what is more important the condition of the roads is totally worst and virtually in a dilapidated state.
He said the need of the hour is to focus to improve road connectivity, medical facilities and what is more important to organize a special police recruitment drive in these areas to take into account the poverty and backwardness of  the people  as the people of the said areas  have no source of income except working on daily wage basis.
Vakil said that the youth of the region, although poor but have  enough talent, only they need of opportunities at the right place but it is unfortunate that they are being ignored by both the LG administration and Central Government. What is surprising is that Back to Vilage program of 5 phases is totally missing in the area, Vakil added.
He urged the Govt to direct the concerned Departments especially R and B, Health, PDD to set the system right in Rafiabad and demanded at war footing the macadamization of roads, regular power supply and drinking water as the poor people are suffering due to lack of the said facilities.
Besides others who accompanied during tour include Tariq Khan,Youth constituency president, Mohammad Aslam Khan, Block president and Khizar Mohammad Dar, vice president of the Block.
