Valmiki Trust projects demands

JAMMU, July 22: A meeting of Valmiki Trust was held at its office at Valmiki Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, wherein the Trust projected their demands.
The meeting was chaired by Jang Bahadur and Jagdish Khokar, Chairman and president of the trust respectively whereas social workers, Advocate Suhasni Vasisatha and Gian Sher Sonte were the chief guests.
While speaking, the chief guests gave a briefed about the various welfare schemes being extended by the National Commission for Safaikaramcharis. They appealed the Omar Abdullah to constitute a Safaikaramchari Act in the State on the pattern of National Safaikaramchari Commission.
The president of the Trust appealed the Chief Minister to grant PRC to all the families of Valmiki (Christian/ Safaikaramchari) community residing at different colonies in the State.
Other demands highlighted by the Trust included regularization of Valmiki colony without PRC, stoppage of exploitation of sweepers by way of part time in Government offices, allotment of land to Valmiki Trust for construction of residential flats for the Valmiki Community living in the State and introducing various welfare schemes in the State on the pattern of Government of India.
