Vanashree sails into Mega Final; Rakesh, Mavish enter semis

KATRA, Oct 9:  Vanashree Sarkar from West Bengal secured first position and sailed into the “Mega Final” of All India Devotional Song Competition organized during ongoing Navratra Festival here. However, Rakesh Deol and Mavish Sharma, both from Jammu claimed second and third positions and registered berth in the semis of the competition.
The first position holder was awarded with cash prizes of Rs 5000 by Zee News, whereas Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 cash prizes were presented to second and third position holders respectively.
The competition started with lighting the traditional lamp by chief guest Director Tourism, Jammu Soujanya Sharma in presence of other officers and dignitaries including Additonal SP Katra, Pawan Parihar, Jagdish Mehra Project Officer and Media Incharge, Navratra Festival, DySP Katra Rajinder Katoch, SHO Katra Sanjeev Gupta, President Hotel and Restaurant Association Katra, Sham Lal Kesar, Sardari Lal Dubey, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Swami Joganand, Harish Dubey, Virender Kesar etc.
The competition was adjudged by panel of judges including Dr Surinder Sharma, Head of the Department of Music in Center for Excellence, Government Degree College Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, Dr Usha Bhagati, former HoD music, PG MAM College Jammu, Parveen Sabherwal, former HoD Music, Government College for Women Parade and Gandhi Nagar.
The winner of Mega final will be awarded with a gold coin amounting to Rs 1 lakh and a recording contract with Venus Records and Tapes Limited.
Rakesh Wazir, Chairman of the competition said that final of the competition will be adjudged by the famous personalities from media and Bollywood  including Actor Aftab Shivdasani, Ganesh Jain, Managing Director, Venus Records and Tapes Limited, Ramesh Taurani, Managing Director, Tips Industries Limited, Mohinder Batla, Chairman cum Managing Director Mh Group, Vikas Mohan Producer and Trade Analyst, Barkha Arora, CEO Zee Jagran and Ramesh Raina, CAO Disha Channel.
It is to mention that All India Devotional Song Competition is being organised by SMVDSB and Department of Tourism with active support of Zee News, Zee Jagran, Mh Shardha, Disha Channel, Big 92.7 FM, J&K Bank, Nidesh Builders Private Limited, Jammu, Jai Mata Di Sewa Sangh Prasadi, District Administration, Katra Municipality, Hotel and Restaurant Association, Katra and local host community.
Meanwhile, in Hassya Vayang contest, 12 contenders participated in the semi final, out of which 8 contestants qualified for final round. The participants who will give hilarious performances in the final included Rohit, Shazi Khan, Sonu, Amit Raja, Atul, Khabri Lal, Abhishek and Sudesh.
Cultural programme by Song and Drama Division was organized at GHSS, Katra and Bhagwat Katha at Raghunath Mandir, Katra.
