Vanshika enters Mega Final of Devotional Song Competition

KATRA, Oct 19:  As the All India Devotional Song Competition, during ongoing Navratra Festival at Katra, entered into 6th day, Vanshika Jaral from Jammu clinched 1st position while   Rakesh Deol from Jammu and Sukhjinderjeet from Punjab shared the 2nd position. The 3rd place was secured by Narinder Singh from Punjab.
The competition was adjudged by the panels of experts in music, including Prof Anupama Sharma, Professor Music Degree College, Jammu and leading Dogri Singer, Pt Subash Ghosh from West Bengal and Dr Usha Bhagati, Ex.HOD Music.
Vanshika Jaral, who stood 1st, will join directly in Mega final on Oct 21 while 2nd and 3rd prize holders will try their luck on Oct 20 in semi-final to reach to the Mega final.
Winner of the Mega Final will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh by Navratra Festival Committee besides recording contract with Venus Records & Tapes Ltd.
This festival is being organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Department of Tourism J&K with active co-operation of District Administration, Municipal Committee, Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra besides India News, Shradha Channel, Zee PHH, Zee Anmol, 92.7 Big FM, J&K Bank, Nidesh Builders etc.
The guest performance of Ravi Raghuvanshi, former winner of the competition, was shelved due to rains.
Earlier, the contest began with the lighting of traditional lamp by SDM Katra, Anil Chandel along with SDM Nowshera, Harbans Sharma, Ashok Kumar (Director Sports SMVDSB), chairman AIDSC Rakesh Wazir, ASP Katra Sumeet Kotwal, District Information Officer, Ashwani Hansa, Dy Director Tourism, Meenakshi Koul, SHO Katra and others.
