LEH, Sept 24: On the third-day of Ladakh Festival various functions including Mask Dance (Chams), Thanka exhibition, handloom, handicraft and food stalls, photo exhibition of birds and mammals of Ladakh, archery competition and polo matches were held in the district.
DC Leh Avny Lavasa inaugurated the handloom, handicraft and food stalls and photo exhibition of birds and mammals of Ladakh by WCBL (Ladakh Bird Club) at Leh main market.
Brig R.S Sundaram, was the chief guest for the program of Mask dance at Chokhang Vihara. The dance included Gonbo Khor (Maha Kala), Mahey, Rgyal Lon, Acharya and Bakchung Karu dances performed by the monks of Pheyang monastery.
ADC, Moses Kunzang was the chief guest on the inauguration event of archery competition. Various teams including students participated in the archery competition.
Polo match began with the postponed matches followed by scheduled matches. The first match was played between Indus Polo Club Chushot and Drass Polo Club, where the former won by 5 goals. The second match was played between Ladakh Scout Regimental Centre (LSRC) and Kundik Polo Club Wanla which was won by the former by 5 goals.
Besides, parallel events like Art Exhibition, photo exhibition, talk series, sustainable/rural tourism/spirituality and environment and screening of films/documentaries on Ladakh at LAMO Centre and live demonstration of contemporary sculpture were also held. Besides, exhibition at Onpo House and folk singing by veteran folk artists of Ladakh headed by renowned folk singer Tsering Stanzin was also held at Lonpo House in Kharyog, Leh.
Tourists both foreigners and domestic were present during these events in good numbers. Besides, locals were also seen enjoying the Chams, archery, polo and food served at food stalls arranged in Leh main market as part of Ladakh Festival.
Music concert was also performed in the evening at Leh main market.
