Various delegations call on LG, raise number of issues

LEH, Aug 23: A number of delegations today called on Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, at Raj Niwas and raised various issues.
Councillor Phyang Tundup Nurbu and Sarpanch Phyang Tashi Dorjey met the LG and apprised him about the initiative for the production of hybrid mustard seed on a pilot basis in Phyang, Saboo and Stok villages in collaboration with Tierra Agrotech in Ladakh under the guidance of the country’s top scientists.
They informed the LG about the result of the hybrid mustard seed and requested for awareness programmes, exposure tours, provision of providing latest equipment on subsidy and incentives to farmers to encourage them to practice seed production in Ladakh.
Councillor, Cha, Stanzin Lakpa met LG Mathur to raise issues related to the construction of irrigation canals in Cha Lungnak and lower Zangla in Zanskar sub-division. He requested for intervention in clearing the pending Administrative Approval (AA) and technical sanction for the irrigation canals at the earliest.
Stanzin Namgail from Trident Sports Arena and Recreational Center called on LG Mathur to raise the issue regarding the pending installment of the sanctioned loan under the JKEDI-YSLS scheme for the sports arena and recreational center. They apprised the LG of the delay in the release of the third installment of Rs 16 lakh for the Project. They requested for intervention in the early release of the installment to start work on the pending project.
A delegation from All Ladakh Hotel and Guest House Association (ALHGHA) comprising president Skarma Tsering Delex and vice-president Tundup Namgyal called on LG Mathur to request for relaxation for guest houses being run by family members. They requested for finalization of policy for three categories of accommodations- home-stays, guest houses and hotels to enable the owners to avail benefits of various schemes.
