KARGIL, Jan 19: Several delegations here today met Lieutenant Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D Mishra (Retd.) on third day of his visit to Kargil.
Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse; Additional Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Chowdhary Iftikhar Ahmad and Joint Director, Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho were also present on the occasion.
A delegation led by LAHDC Councillor, GM Pore, Syed Ali met LG Mishra and raised the demand of construction of an irrigation canal in his constituency apart from up-gradation of Girls’ High School.
The LG directed the Chief Engineer, PHE I&FC, Ladakh to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for construction of the irrigation canal. For up-gradation of the High School and other demands, he said that work will be done as per norms.
Advocate Ghulam Murtaza also met the LG and demanded a Consumer Court in Kargil. He also demanded enhancement of remuneration of Assistant Prosecuting Officers. The LG directed his Advisor to look into the matter regarding the Consumer Court.
Mohd Ali, a resident of Chanigund, Kargil met the LG and demanded compensation for his land acquired by the Government for constructing a Health Centre. The LG directed the Deputy Commissioner to examine the case and take immediate necessary action.
A public delegation from Zanskar Sub-Division also met the LG and emphasized on the urgent need for reclaiming State land from private control for development of a public park.
The delegation also demanded construction of irrigation canal to address water needs in the region. In respect of encroachment, the LG directed the Deputy Commissioner to get the encroachment immediately removed.
For irrigation canal, he directed the Chief Engineer, PHE I&FC to prepare DPR by February 15, 2024.
A delegation of candidates provisionally selected through LAHDC-KSSRB for Class IV posts also met the LG and demanded allocation of Departments as per merit.
In this regard, the LG directed the concerned to look into the matter and resolve the issue as per norms within fixed time-frame.
A delegation of employees of J&K State Road Transport Corporation, who have now been absorbed in SIDCO-Ladakh also met the LG and apprised him about issues pertaining to their remuneration which was still not enhanced. The LG spoke to the Managing Director of SIDCO and passed necessary instructions in this regard.
The LG also met many other delegations and individuals from across the District who demanded financial assistance.
Mishra said that genuine demands will be looked into as per norms within specific time-lines.
