JAMMU, Nov 10: Various educational institutions celebrated Diwali and Children Day with joy and fanfare.
To celebrate Diwali, a Rangoli competition was organised by Government College of Engineering and Technology, New Campus, Chak Bhalwal. On the occasion, Prof Bhopinder Singh, Principal was the chief guest, while, Dr Simmi Dutta, Sheetal Gandotra, Bhawna Sharma, Rouf Ahmed Khan and Dr Subash Dubey, were the jury members. Team from E&C Engineering Department bagged first prize, whereas, Mechanical Engineering Department and Electrical Engineering Department bagged second and third positions. Two consolation prizes were given to the teams from Department of Computer Engineering and Ist Semester, Section C respectively.
Diwali was celebrated at GD Goenka Public School with enthusiasm and zeal. On the occasion, dance as well as drama programmes were presented by the junior and senior wing of the school. A Rangoli Making and Toran making competition was also organised, in which senior students of the school participated enthusiastically. The judges for the competition were Amarjyoti and Priya. Director Sanya Bansal and Principal Poonam Jha urged the students to avoid the use of crackers and celebrate a safe and pollution free Diwali.
Luthra Academy, Gandhi Nagar celebrated Diwali with great fervour and enthusiasm. On the occasion, Madhu Luthra was the chief guest, who while speaking threw light on the importance of the day. BL Bachloo also expressed his views.
Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar celebrated Diwali and Children Day with zeal and fervour. On the occasion, Rameshwar Mengi, Principal of the school was the chief guest, who while speaking asked the students to inculcate the positive values for providing a chaste, moralistic and corruption free society. A Hindi skit “Lalach Buri Blaa” was enacted by the ardent teachers of the middle wing.
Dewan Devi Higher Secondary School, Rajpura celebrated Diwali and Children Day with religious fervour and gaiety. Students attired in colourful dresses presented various cultural programmes. Chairman of the school, Subash Suri threw light on the importance of the day.
Shangrilla Higher Secondary School, Sarwal celebrated Diwali and Children Day with joy and fanfare. On the occasion, SP Verma, national vice president, Gandhi Global Family was the chief guest, while, Sureshta Khajuria, Principal, faculty members and students were also present. Students sung and danced on the tunes of songs.
SOS Hermann Gmeiner School celebrated Children Day with great enthusiasm and zeal. A colourful cultural programme was presented by students and enthralled the audience. Prizes were given to the students who excelled in Inter HGS Athletic Meet held in HGS Faridabad by the Principal of the school. Principal of the school highlighted the significance of the day.
Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar celebrated Children Day with enthusiasm. On the occasion, Gambhir Dev Singh, was the chief guest, who while speaking, impressed upon the students to work with zeal in making the country progressive. Nirmala Koul, Vice Principal, Sanjay Lalathia, Incharge, Activities, staff members and students were also present.
ASN Higher Secondary School, Reshamgarh and Channi Himmat celebrated Diwali festival with pomp and show. PB Kapoor, Principal of Rehsamgarh branch, Ritesh Kapoor, Administrator along with Shiv Charan Dass, Vice-Principal, Uttam Singh, HoD Senior wing and KK Gutpa had round of all the class-rooms, which were decorated by the students with balloons, candles and decorative. Students also presented cultural items on the occasion.
Lord Mahavira Playway School celebrated Diwali and Children Day with great joy and fanfare. The students decorated the school with earthen lamps, followed by Rangoli competition. Madhu Sharma, principal, Geeta, Vice Principal and Anuradha, Headmistress, asked the students to avoid the use of crackers and celebrate safe and pollution free Diwali.
Magic Years celebrated Diwali with zeal and enthusiasm. The celebration started with bursting of the crackers, followed by Display Your Talent Competition for mothers. Principal of the school, Chetna Khullar distributed prizes to all the mothers, who excelled in the competition.
