JAMMU, Oct 4: Various food establishments in Jammu were challaned under Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA) by Food Safety wing of Drug & Food Control Organization, Jammu, during a week-long drive.
The drive was conducted by a team of Food Safety Officers led by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Jammu. The team inspected various food establishments and Government schools providing mid day meals.
During the inspections, Firms namely Ess Kay Food Products, Chaman Food Industries at Gangyal, Garden Estate at Trikuta Nagar and Pine Agro Industries at Gangyal were challaned for insanitary conditions. Moreover, samples of bakery items and edible oils were lifted and sent to the laboratory for analysis. The Food Safety Officers asked the staff of the firms to maintain clean and hygienic conditions within their premises.
Besides this, the Food Safety team also inspected twelve Government schools within Municipal limits of Jammu, from where they lifted samples of raw and prepared foods and sent them to the laboratory for ascertaining standard of purity.
The team was comprised of Food Safety Officers namely Daleep Singh, Hans Raj Andotra, Ajay Khajuria, and Pervaiz Ahmed.
