Various KP bodies condemn attack on migrant transit camp in Kupwara

JAMMU, Sept 1: Various KP organizations have strongly condemned the yesterday’s attack on the migrant colony at Nathussa in Kupwara district of Kashmir valley by the unruly mob.
All Migrant Employees Association Kashmir (AMEAK) which is on the protest for last 51 days in front of Relief Organization here demanding their posting in camp offices at Jammu in view of recent attacks on their camps in Valley, has strongly condemned the yesterday’s attack at migrant camp at Natussa in Kupwara.
The protesters said property of employees worth lakh was damaged and demanded that a FIR be registered against the culprits and stern action taken against them.
The protesting employees shouted slogans against the administration for its failure in protecting the property of employees in Valley. They said the incident has not only shocked the peace loving citizens of the State but exposed all the claims of the successive Governments for safeguarding the interests of minorities in the Valley.
Expressing serious concern over the attack the KP Sabha Jammu in a statement issued here today said that such incidents after the 55 days of the unrest in Valley is not very reassuring regarding the safety and security of the migrant employees serving in Valley.
The Sabha president K K Khosa said that it further indicates the failure of Government to provide security to the migrant employees who already feel harassed and humiliated after the last time shameful act of Haal Pulwama in South Kashmir and stone pelting on other camps forcing these employees to leave the Valley for their safety and security.
BJP Migrant Cell while condemning the attack in strong terms demanded that the left out properties of the migrant employees be safeguarded in the transit camps in Valley. The president of the Cell Chand Ji Bhat while demanding that the culprits be arrested said that the salaries of migrant employees be released without any delay and employees putting up in various transit camps in Kashmir be provided adequate security so that such incidents don’t take place in future.
All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) while strongly condemning the act alleged that the State Government has totally failed to restrain gundas and Pan Islamic fundamentalists from creating fear psychosis among the Pandit minorities who are the peace loving people and responsible citizens.
ASKPC which met here today under the chairmanship of its president Ravinder Raina said it is the shame for the Kupwara administration that the unruly mob forcibly entered the migrant camp and ransacked it besides damaging quarters and vehicles of the employees. It warned that if the culprits were not booked ASKPC will launch agitation.
Kashmir Samiti Delhi (KSD) has also strongly condemned the yesterday’s attack on migrant transit camp in Valley in which some quarters were set ablaze by the unruly mob and properties were looted.
KSD chief Vijay Riana demanded stern action against the culprits. He demanded that the Government should pay adequate compensation to the migrant families whose quarters and other property was damaged and the salary of the employees be also paid on priority basis to save them from starvation.
Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) while condemning the attack on migrant quarters by unruly mob said it is an eye opener for the Government and it should understand that how KP employees can work in Kashmir under this hate campaign.
KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri demanded that the culprits be booked under law and cases registered against them. He said that this has exposed the fundamentalists who rule roost in Valley. Kashmiri demanded compensation for the migrants whose quarters were damaged besides release of migrant employees’ salaries and their posting outside Valley.
Jammu Kashmir Vichar Manch (JKVM) has also strongly condemned the attack and said it also exposed the self proclaimed champions of political delusion being termed as Kashmiriyat. Their double speak is exposed to the world as they have failed to condemn and stop such attacks that take place almost regularly.
Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) while condemning the attack said that in case the Government fails to settle the problems of the migrant employees serving in Valley the organization will be forced to launch a massive agitation.
YAIKS president R K Baht said that migrant youth had shown their willingness to serve in Valley in 2010 under PM package but due to the failure of the successive governments these employees were feeling totally scared there. He said despite repeated requests the Government failed to take measures to ensure safety and security of these employees and their apprehensions came true after the recent attacks on migrant camps and yesterday’s attack at Kupwara transit camp by unruly mob. Bhat demanded that these employees be posted outside the Valley immediately.
Sampooran Kashmir Sangathan president Rakesh Koul has also strongly condemned the attack & demanded the immediate arrest of culprits & security to migrant property & employees in Valley.
Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) has also strongly condemned the attack on migrant camp and demanded that culprits be arrested without any delay.
JTC president Shadi Lal Pandita said that the attack has exposed the Government claims of providing safety and security to migrant employees serving in various parts of Kashmir. He demanded that Pandits be given their share in Valley and settled in separate satellite townships with implementation of job package announced in 2008 by then PM and also announcing of another package of 10,000 jobs for youth after their settlement in Satellite townships.
Kashmiri Pandit United Coordination Committee Jagti  in its meeting held under the leadership of Bansi Lal Koul and Anu Ji chairman and president respectively while condemning the attack on migrant camp demanded a stern action be taken against the people involved in it.
The meeting said that the majority community of Kashmir has failed to help in restoration of composite culture after surrendering to the wishes of the handful people of Hurriyat Conference. The meeting said what would have been the fate of the migrant employees if they would have been in the camp at the time of attack.
Migrant leader and social activists Pintoo Ji has also strongly condemned the act saying this shows that majority community in Valley has surrendered before the fundamentalists and the saner elements have taken the back seat.
